Aaliyah Dana Haaughton soared to fame after releasing the album she dubbed Age Ain't Nothing More Than A Number in the year 1994. At the time, she was just 15 years old. when the album was released and it went on to become Gold. The album was a collaboration that was highly inspired by R. Kelly and it put the singer in the limelight. In 1996 she worked together with Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland to record her follow-up album One In A Million which contained the number-one hit single If Your Girl Could Only Know. With the release of this work Aaliyah received international recognition for her performance as an R&B performer. She appeared alongside martial arts legend Jet Li in the 2000 action-romance film Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, the film producer, met her at an awards show and suggested her the part. She was in 2002 when she was involved in the Anne Rice-produced thriller Queen of the Damned. After that, she entered the Matrix with her role as Zee in The Matrix Sequels having also appeared on The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 as well as The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. Aarti Magnumdar is her professional name, but she has also used Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Although she began her acting career with minor TV and film performances, her acting career picked up growth in the latter half of 2000s. The actress has also been featured in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy as well as Grey's Anatomy. In addition, she has appeared in important commercials for brands like Volvo which is an international automobile maker. She has a daughter, is a resident of Los Angeles and is pursuing acting.
